A Taste of History: Remembering the Wine History of Mountain View at Mountain View Public Library

Hear the story of Mountain View's forgotten wine industry, from Mission Santa Clara's first vines to over 100 local wineries.

Registration is recommended. Seating is limited. Walk-ins are also welcome. Before Silicon Valley, before the apricot orchards, this region was wine country. From the first vines planted at Mission Santa Clara in 1798 to more than 100 wineries operating across Santa Clara County by the 1890s, the South Bay was once one of California's most productive wine regions. Join us for a presentation by fourth-generation Mountain View resident and museum professional Julie Bly De Vere. She will present a lively look at the winemakers, vineyards, and forgotten history that shaped our local landscape long before the tech industry arrived.
